All Pilates is Not the Same

The Pilates Method:

The Authentic Pilates Method is a system of exercises using a series of unique movements developed by Joseph Pilates.  Joseph Pilates designed these exercises which combine stretching and strengthening using apparatus with spring resistance and mat exercises.

Authentic Pilates exercises are initiated from the powerhouse, which is made up of the abdominals, the lower back, the inner thighs and the buttocks.  As the powerhouse becomes stronger and more stable, you will stand with better posture, improve your circulation, tone your muscles without bulking up and increase strength and flexibility.

With over 500 exercises taught at Pilates of West County, we will customize a workout that is tailored to your needs and fitness level.



For the Newcomer:

Everyone can benefit from Pilates. Our instructors are trained to customize a program based on clients age, fitness goals and past injuries.  You do not have to be “in shape” to start Pilates. Pilates is an anatomically sound exercise system that can be effective in post-rehab fitness.
